Does Item updated event reciver trigger an existing list work flow ?

Hi,

I have created a work flow on my list ,'Products', that runs on item changed event . At the same time I have deployed an item updated event receiver in 'Location' list that updates 'Products' List .

My doubt is when the item updated event gets triggered in 'Location' list ,it updates 'Products' List . So does this updation trigger the existing workflow in 'Products' List ?

I tested this out and found that the workflow is not triggered . Is  this by design ?
