Delayed processing of Workflow

Hi Guys,

my workflow executes very slow, its takes 4-5 refresh before the task will take effect, for example i set the computation of due date column through my workflow but after creating a new item it will not take effect unless you refresh it 4-5 times, Is there any solution or tips you can advise to avoid this problem...
