Where do you create a lookup field for a feature deployment in Visual Studio

Hi really confused on how to create a lookup field in a content type .  Where do you create this ?
Does anyone have an example as i am really confused . 
Do you create this in the elements xml file or the content type xml or the list definition schema xml 

Would be really nice if anyone has code please
