SP 2010 Application Types and comparison

Hello,

We are using SharePoint 2010 and ProjectServer 2010 in our organization. We are planning to convert couple of .Net applications into a SharePoint 2010 Application. As we use ProjectServer 2010, we are planning to create this new app also as a Service Application similar to ProjectServer 2010. Is there any article that describes different types of SharePoint 2010 applications, and comparison of each of the types?
