We are currently using SharePoint 2010 and Office 2007. Select individuals upload Word documents to our document library and start a workflow which sends emails to various individuals to "sign" the word document and advance it through the workflow to its final, approved end.
When the person is ready to SIGN the document, they open the document in READ ONLY mode, Sign it, and close the document. Since there are two signers, you cannot open the document in edit mode or it will invalidate the first signature. This process has been working for several months.
NOW, when we can open the document in WORD. When we go to sign the document it says the document has been deleted or is being edited by someone else. Click OK and suddenly the document is checked out in SharePoint. You can cancel the check out fine and the unsigned document goes back to its original, unsigned status. However, when you try and check it back in, you get an error saying YOU are editing the document and you cannot check it back in.
Has anyone encountered this type of situation before?
